Senior Accountant Job Description

A Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. Senior Accountants are expected to demonstrate advanced accounting skills, provide guidance to junior staff, and support the financial decision-making process with accurate data and insightful analysis.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Lead the year-end closing process, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with auditors.
• Manage and oversee the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis to the management team.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and enhance financial integrity.
• Assist in tax preparation and compliance, ensuring timely submission of tax filings and adherence to regulations.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing actionable insights to management.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring quality in their work.
